Abit ACON 4 - The Grand Final

Before the killing and maiming began, tournament sponsors got the chance to display their wares to all present – each had a booth at one end of the hall where you could chat with company reps as well as main-stage presentations of their latest innovations to the media & public.



However, the media frenzy, not surprisingly, was reserved for the Booth Babes. Strutting their stuff to a bilingual voiceover of feature sets and product specs, I suspect these girls didn’t have a clue what they were holding up, but smiled all the same.



For some though, the strain of Computex the week before, plus the previous day's flights from Taipei to Shanghai, clearly proved too much.



Jonathan "Fatal1ty" Wendell was on hand to promote ABIT's forthcoming Fatal1ty high-performance motherboard / videocard range, as well as take on the lads in the somewhat less familiar realm of 2D RTS. Despite the famous hand-eye co-ordination that has made him probably the most moneyed gamer in the world, Fatal1ty was still out of his FPS-element, and was beaten by UK-champ TAG-BoNd in a low-key exhibition match. I doubt he will lose much sleep over it though - at E3, he thorough spanked all and sundry at UT 2004 in the Fatal1ty 100 Shootout - an event which may come to Europe later this year.


The tournament itself would be single-elimination, with each pair playing the best of 3 rounds to determine who would go through to the next round...
